18 die in UP’s Unnao after collision between tanker and bus

Unnao, July 10: A double-decker bus collided with a milk container on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in the Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of 28 persons and the injuries of 19 others.

The injured have been admitted to the Community Health Centre, where they are undergoing treatment. The condition of the injured is said to be stable.

The collision was so severe that the bus broke into two parts and the tanker also overturned. It is said that the tanker was trying to overtake the bus, due to which this accident happened.

Unnao District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi reported that the bus, carrying 57 passengers, collided with the container around 5:15 am.

“About 57 passengers were travelling in a private bus which was going to Delhi. 18 people died and 19 others were injured after the bus collided with a milk container at 5:15 am,” Rathi stated.

Six of the injured were taken to the trauma center, and the remaining were being treated at the district hospital.

PM announces ex-gratia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the families of each person who died in the Unnao accident and Rs. 50,000 for each injured person.

UP CM Yogi expresses grief

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took note of the road accident and offered his condolences to the families of the deceased.

He directed the district administration to swiftly take the injured to the hospital and provide them with appropriate treatment. He also wished the injured a quick recovery.

“The loss of life in a road accident in Unnao district is extremely sad and heart-wrenching. My condolences are with the bereaved family. District administration officials have been instructed to reach the spot and speed up the relief work. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to give a place to the departed souls in his feet and provide speedy recovery to the injured,” CM Yogi posted on X.
