Bijapur, March 20: Security forces eliminated 18 Naxalites during an encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Thursday, sources said.
The gunfight erupted around 7 am in a forested area along the Bijapur-Dantewada border when a joint security team launched an anti-Naxalite operation in the Gangaloor police station limits.

A jawan from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) of the state police lost his life in the exchange of fire.
Security personnel recovered firearms, explosives, and the bodies of 18 Naxalites from the encounter site.
The operation is still ongoing in the region, as per reports.
