Ranchi, Sept 20: Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Gupta today directed the police top brass to pull up their socks to conduct the Graduate Level Combined Examination, held by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), fairly.
These examinations are to be held on September 21-22 at 823 centres across the State.
Ban on gadgets at exam centres
In a missive to all IGs, DIGs, SSPs and SPs, Gupta asked them to ensure that digital gadgets are not used at the examination centres. “The examination centres will be monitored with CCTV cameras,” he added.
Notably, the CGL exams, held earlier, were marred by paper leaks, leading to the cancellation of the examination.
Social media under scanner
Following directives from Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the DGP told them to ensure that no rumour or false news related to paper leaks is spread through social media. “Prompt strict legal action will also be taken against those who defame the examination,” he said.
Compliance with rules issued by JSSC
The DGP asked them to ensure that the provisions of law related to malpractices in examinations are pasted at all places of stay including hotels, lodges, and hostels located around all examination centres.

“If any wrong information or rumour related to the examination is spread by the people staying in their institute, strict action will be taken against the rumour mongers,” he said.
“To ensure that no rumour or false news related to paper leaks is spread through social media, strict legal action will also be taken against those who defame the examination,” the DGP added.
Vigil on accommodation
The police officers have also been directed to keep a strict vigil on the accommodation places of the candidates coming from outside the districts such as hotels, lodges, resorts, guest houses etc. and continuous checking should be done at those places so that there is no gathering of unwanted elements.
“Apart from the premises of the examination centres, CCTV cameras should also be installed at the main gate, so that the movement of vehicles carrying question papers, candidates and other people can be monitored,” Gupta added.
The DGP has also asked them to deploy forces at places where candidates are staying, such as hotels, lodges, resorts, and guest houses.
“Besides, strict vigil should be kept on the use of electronic gadgets in and around the examination centres, so that they are not misused,” he added.
Watches and glasses to be frisked
“The candidates coming to the examination centre should be frisked properly so that they are not allowed to enter with unwanted items. Along with this, the watches and glasses worn by the candidates should also be frisked properly,” he said.
“At the time of arrival and departure of trains, coordination should be established with GRP/RPF and vigilance should be maintained, so that a situation of conflict between passengers and candidates does not arise,” the DGP said.
“Continuous monitoring should be done on social media through cyber cells of the districts so that any kind of rumours cannot be spread by anti-social elements and immediate action can be taken against those doing wrong deeds/spreading rumours,” he signed off.
