THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK
Srinagar, Nov 10: Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered a staggering 2,900 kg of bomb-making material — including 350 kg of ammonium nitrate, timers and other components — as part of a major operation that exposed an interstate and transnational terror module linked to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed and the al-Qaeda-affiliated Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
The raids, carried out across Jammu & Kashmir (Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Shopian) and Faridabad in Haryana, also turned up assault rifles, handguns, boxes of ammunition and incriminating manuals on making improvised explosive devices.

Authorities say one of the assault rifles was recovered from the car of a woman doctor connected to the Al-Falah Hospital in Faridabad.

Investigators have arrested several individuals, including medical professionals — notably Mujammil Shakeel, a doctor at Al-Falah Hospital (Faridabad), and Adil Ahmad Rather, a doctor at Government Medical College, Anantnag — along with five others identified as Arif Nisar Dar, Yasir-ul-Ashraf, Maqsood Ahmad Dar (Srinagar), Molvi Irfan Ahmad (Shopian) and Zameer Ahmad Ahanger (Ganderbal). CCTV footage had earlier linked Rather to propaganda activity in Srinagar.
Officials said the probe points to a worrying “white-collar” terrorist ecosystem in which radicalised professionals, many allegedly guided by handlers based abroad, were involved not only in violent plotting but also in spreading extremist propaganda.

The recovery of high-grade explosives and a varied arsenal — from an Italian Beretta pistol to a compact Russian Krinkov rifle — underlines the gravity of the dismantled network and has prompted further intelligence and security action.
