3 Naxals killed in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma

Sukma, Dec 18: Three Maoists, one of them a woman, were gunned down in a security operation in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Thursday, taking the number of Naxalites killed in encounters in the state this year to 284, police said.

The encounter took place during an anti-Naxal search operation carried out by the District Reserve Guard in the Golapalli police station area after security forces received intelligence inputs about the movement of Maoist cadres in the region.

Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan said the exchange of fire erupted in the morning on a forested hill, following which the bodies of three Maoists were recovered from the spot.

He added that the operation is still in progress and more information is awaited.
