Dhanbad, Jan 21: In a mega ticket-checking drive conducted by the Dhanbad Rail Division of the East Central Railway (ECR) zone, 667 passengers were caught travelling without valid tickets. A total fine of ₹4.33 lakh was realised from the offenders.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr DCM) of Dhanbad Rail Division, Md Iqbal, said the drive was carried out under a well-planned programme and conducted round the clock at different railway stations across the division.

Passengers Without Tickets and Authorisation Booked
“As a result of this inspection, a total of 667 passengers were apprehended, including those travelling without tickets, passengers travelling without proper authorisation, and passengers carrying unbooked luggage,” he said.
During the drive, an amount of ₹4,33,730 was collected as a penalty from the offenders. The apprehended passengers were strictly advised to travel only with valid tickets.
Checks in Trains and Stations Continue
The checking teams also conducted inspections at railway stations and in various Mail and Express trains. The Dhanbad Division stated that such ticket-checking drives are being conducted continuously and will continue in the future as well.
Md Iqbal said that the Dhanbad Division of East Central Railway has advised passengers to enter platforms only with valid tickets and to travel strictly in the class or category for which they hold a valid ticket.
