New Delhi, Dec 28: In the past 24 hours, 692 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in India. Union Health Ministry figures show that the total active caseload grew by four, to 4,097.
Subsequently, 4,50,10,944 coronavirus cases have been reported in India overall since the virus’s emergence in January 2020.
Six deaths have been reported throughout the nation in the previous 24 hours, according to government data. Two of these deaths have occurred in Maharashtra, and one each in Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala and West Bengal.

After an increase of six deaths in the last day, the overall number of deaths in India as a result of COVID-19 cases is now 5,33,346.
Meanwhile, Delhi reported the first case of the COVID-19 subvariant JN.1 on Wednesday.
“Delhi reports the first case of JN.1, a Sub-Variant of Omicron. Out of the three samples sent for Genome Sequencing, one is JN.1, and two are Omicron,” Saurabh Bharadwaj, the Health Minister of Delhi stated.
According to sources from the Health Ministry, as of Wednesday, a total of 109 cases of the JN.1 sub-variant have been identified in India.
