Daltonganj, February 27: Villagers of Manatu, setting an example of the co-existence of humans and wildlife, rescued a strayed deer and handed it down to the concerned forest officials.
The villagers took good care of the strayed deer. It was given water and space for rest.
With the onset of summer, deer begin straying into human habitation in search of water.
Here, such strayed deer become victims of the attack of pariah dogs. However, alert locals abort the dog’s attack.

It’s not only the deer that strays. Bears have also been reported to intrude into human habitats again in search of water and food.
The rescued deer is a male and has been released safely in a chunk of well-protected jungle.
There was a time in Palamu when a strayed deer was destined to lose its life for becoming an item of feast.
However, a sustained campaign for showing compassion and love for strayed wildlife out of their habitat has made people shun their negative attitude towards such luckless wildlife. Now, strayed wildlife gets the protection of all sorts.
