Dhanbad, March 2: A three-member committee will probe the fire in the dialysis ward of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) that occurred on Friday night.
SNMMCH Principal-cum- Superintendent Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad, giving this information, said that the committee comprising senior faculty members and experts have been asked to submit the report of fire in three days to the medical college management.
Dialysis ward of SNMMC Hospital
A massive fire broke out in the dialysis ward of SNMMC Hospital at around 10.20 pm on Friday. The firefighting team took more than one hour to douse the blaze completely. Four fire tenders were pressed in to control and extinguish it.

However, the official said thick smoke had spread in the hospital, which took time to normalise the condition. No casualty was reported in the fire. Getting information, Dhanbad SDM Uday Rajak also reached the hospital duly.
Short circuit
“Prima facie short circuit seems to be the reason for the fire, but we would jump to any conclusion only after getting experts’ probe report,” said the principal, Dr Prasad.
When a fire broke out, there was no patient in the first floor-based dialysis ward as dialysis is done only at 5 pm in the hospital.
The patients were admitted to its adjacent gynaecology ward and the 2nd floor-based paediatrics department. They were safely rescued and immediately shifted to empty beds in the emergency ward and Cath Lab.
The principal said no one was injured in the incident, but damage to hospital property from the fire could be displayed only after proper assessment.
