Jharkhand News: BBMKU PG girl student killed in Hywa-bus collision

Dhanbad, March 6: A post-graduate girl student of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad, identified as Ritu Chandra, was killed while a dozen passengers were injured in bus-Hywa coal truck collision on inter-state GT Road near East India roundabout under Govindpur police station, around 23 km away here in the evening today.

A police official said the accident occurred at around 5.15 pm. The female student succumbed to her injury on the spot.

In contrast, other bus passengers who received minor injuries were admitted to local private clinics and the Govindpur Community Health Centre (CHC).

The victim girl, an MSc first-semester student, was a resident of Nirsa block of the district and was returning from Dhanbad. The police duly informed her family members.

The Hywa truck reportedly belonged to Maithon Power Limited (MPL) Maithon.

Govindpur police inspector Ravi Kant Prasad said an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
