Jamshedpur, March 14: In a breakthrough against vehicle lifting, the police on Thursday recovered as many as a dozen motorcycles from the Kowali Thana area near Jamshedpur following the arrest of a youth.
The arrested person Shekhar Mondal would receive the stolen bikes and would sell them out after getting them modified.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team from the Kowali Thana raided the house of Mondal at Amda village in Kowali and recovered 10 stolen bikes from there in the early hours today. Later the police team recovered two more bikes from the same Thana area by conducting raids after the interrogation of the accused.

Bike thief identified, Police to nab him soon
Revealing about the breakthrough, SP (Rural) Rishabh Garg said that Mondal would get a new look to the stolen bikes by modifying them and would also change the number plates before selling them out to gullible people.
“The act of stealing the two-wheelers would be done by someone else. Mondal’s job was to get the stolen vehicles modified before getting them disposed off. We have identified the one who would lift the bikes and will soon arrest him,” said Garg while talking to the media at the Kowali police station on Thursday.
According to the Rural SP, money generated from the racket would be divided equally among the bike-lifter and the modifier.
Kowali is located about 25 km away from Jamshedpur in the southeast portion of the East Singhbhum district and is considered to be a rural area.
