New Delhi, April 1: The Supreme Court on Monday heard the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren.

During the proceedings, Hemant Soren’s lawyers requested to withdraw the petition, which the court accepted.

The petition was against the Jharkhand High Court order which denied him permission to attend the Jharkhand Assembly’s Budget session.

The matter was listed before the bench of Justices Surya Kant and KV Vishwanathan in the Supreme Court.

Hemant Soren challenged decision of Jharkhand HC in Supreme Court

Hemant Soren filed a petition in the Supreme Court contesting the decision of the Jharkhand High Court, which barred him from attending the assembly’s Budget session which commenced on February 23 and concluded on March 2.

Soren, who is currently in judicial custody facing money laundering charges, had requested permission from both the PMLA Court and the High Court to attend the budget session of the Assembly this year. However, both courts denied his request, refusing to grant him permission to attend the session.

The Jharkhand High Court had dismissed his plea on February 28.
