Dhanbad, April 4: Giridih police seized cash of Rs 1.9 crores in a Kolkata bound bus on Interstate Gt Road near Aura under Bagodar police station around 60 km from district headquarters at around 3 am on Thursday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dhananjay Kumar, who led the police operation, said the Maharani Bus was going to Kolkata from Gaya. Three persons were arrested for carrying cash amounts.
The official said on the directive of the superintendent of police (SP), Dipak Kumar Sharma, the special police squad began a search of vehicles on the inter-state- GT road at Aura under Bagodar police station.

The superintendent of police got a tip-off that heavy cash was being carried out from Bihar to Kolkata in Maharani Bus. Dipak Kumar Sharma immediately directed Bagodar police to conduct checking. At around 2.30 am (last night), Maharani Bus arrived at Aura, and in a search operation, cash was recovered.
The police official said Rs 42.5 lakh was recovered from one person while two others were carrying Rs 67 lakh. Total recovery was 1.9 lakh 50 thousand. They failed to correctly answer why they had such a heavy amount they were carrying.
“All trio arrested persons are being interrogated about who had given them cash in Bihar and whom they had to deliver in Kolkata”, said the police official.
