THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

New Delhi, May 9: Air India Express has terminated 25 crew members who went on sick leave at once. Air India Express has taken this action against the crew members for disturbing the operation and violating the terms of appointment. At the same time, other crew members have been asked to come to work.

Notably, more than 100 crew members of Air India went on sick leave together. They informed about falling sick at the last moment on Tuesday night and took leave. Due to this, Air India Express had to cancel 90 international and domestic flights in the last two days. Along with this, the company announced to cut flights until May 13.

Crew members took sick leave to protest mismanagement

According to information, cabin crew members of the airline owned by the Tata Group went on strike in protest of alleged mismanagement and to meet their demands.

Last month, a union representing a section of Air India Express cabin crew had alleged that the airline is a victim of mismanagement. There is no equality in the treatment being given to the employees. Air India Express Employees Union (AIXEU) had alleged that the morale of the employees has been affected due to mismanagement.

Meanwhile, after the cancellation of flights, the CEO of the airline, Alok Singh, apologized to the passengers. He said that the simultaneous sick leave of crew members has affected the entire network and they had to cut schedules for the next few days out of compulsion.

Civil Aviation Ministry seeks detailed report

The Civil Aviation Ministry has taken cognizance of the delay and cancellation of Air India Express flights.

The ministry has sought a detailed report from the airline company. It has also asked to provide facilities to the passengers as per the norms of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The company has also been urged to resolve these issues immediately.
