Dhanbad, May 14: One died and eight passengers, including a woman were injured when a Kolkata-bound Muzaffarpur (Bihar) bus hit a truck from the back on inter-state GT road under Topchachi police station, around 35 km away from district headquarters at the wee hour of Tuesday.
Driver dies on the spot
A police official said that the driver of the bus died on the spot. Injured passengers were admitted to nearby Sahobahiyar Community Health Centre (CHC) and were released after first Aid.
Topchachi police station officer in-charge Sanjay Kumar told media persons that the incident occurred at around 3 am. The Bus ( Raj Bus) was going to Kolkata from Muzaffarpur. Near Topchachi market the high-speed bus in the course of overtaking hit the running truck from the back.

The driver of the bus identified as Brajesh Kumar of Vaishali district ( Bihar) got stranded between both the vehicles. He was rescued after two hours but before that, he had died on the spot.
Sahobahiyar CHC medical officer-in-charge Dr Ashutosh Kumar Singh said that a total of eight passengers including a woman came at 5 am. All of them had received mild injuries and were discharged after 1st Aid.
Second incident in recent days
This is the second time the Kolkata – Bihar bus has met an accident on GT Road under Topchachi police police station. On April 30 Nawada ( Bihar) bound Kolkata bus had hit a standing truck.
