Dhanbad, May 27: After Ranchi and Bokaro, the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) will set up a national-level stadium at Kanko Muth, around 10 km away from here.
In this regard, JSCA secretary Debasish Chakraborty and Satyadeo Singh Cricket Academy Director Rajiv Ranjan Singh signed an MoU recently.
Stadium project cost is Rs 10 crore
The initial cost of the stadium project is worth Rs 10 crore. JSCA executive committee member and former Dhanad Cricket Association (DCA) secretary Binay Kumar Singh said that at present priority is to prepare seven turf wickets (five for match and two for practice) so that Ranji Trophy and other national tournaments can be conducted from 2024-25 sessions.
Notably, the JSCA has already acquired land for its stadium in Bokaro, but the Dhanbad project seems to be moving fast to complete on a war footing. It had earlier constructed a world-class stadium in Ranchi.
JSCA president Sanjay Sahay and secretary Debasis Chakraborty, on the occasion, expressed hope that players of Dhanbad will benefit from this stadium and quality players will come to the surface.

Dhanbad’s contribution to cricket
“Dhanbad has a major contribution in the state cricket right from the Bihar era. Several national, zonal and Ranji Trophy players have come from this district. Of course, this stadium will help budding talent to shine,” said the JSCA president and the secretary.
DCA president advocate Manoj Kumar highly appreciated the step of the JSCA in approving the stadium in Dhanbad.
“I am grateful that the JSCA accepted my (DCA) proposal of developing national-level ground in Dhanbad. This will help in holding national matches and tournaments,” said Manoj Kumar, DCA president.
Three stadiums in Dhanbad
Notably, in Dhanbad, there are three stadiums, Digwadih (Tata Steel), Nehru Stadium Jealgora (Bharat Coking Coal Limited ) and Railway Stadium Dhanbad (Dhanbad Rail Division) but this (Kako Hill) stadium will be DCA’s own.
JSCA executive member Binay Singh said that players of rural regions, Katras, Topchachi, Gomoh, Jharia, and Tudni will benefit a lot from this stadium. “Our aim is also to promote the game in the rural belt,” said Binay Singh.
On the occasion, JSCA joint secretary PN Singh, CEO AK Singh. DCA secretary Uttam Biswas, Sadhbendra Singh Manoj Kumar Singh, Ravijit Singh Dang, Rajan Sinha, Javed Khan, Ratnesh Singh, Dwarika Tiwari, Mahesh Gorai, Sanjay Yadav and others were present.
