Ranchi, June 2: Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar today said that out of 14 parliamentary constituencies in Jharkhand, women have voted more than men in 12.

“Only in Ranchi and Jamshedpur, male voters have voted more than women, but its difference has also been marginal,” he pointed out.

Addressing a press conference, he said in 68 assembly constituencies falling under 14 parliamentary constituencies, women have voted more than men. “Only in 13 assembly constituencies, have men voted more than women,” he added.

More turnout in 8 LS constituencies

He said that compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, more voting has taken place in eight out of 14 parliamentary constituencies of Jharkhand in 2024. “The six parliamentary constituencies in which less voting has taken place as compared to 2019, all are areas bordering the state of Bihar. He said that it is likely that this has happened due to reasons like migration in that area,” he pointed out.

He said that it is likely that the counting of votes will be completed by 4 pm. Results can also be seen online.

He said that during the entire election, three policemen, 2 drivers and one election worker died due to different reasons. “The families of all will get the benefit of ex-gratia grant as per rules,” he said.

He said that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, illegal material and cash worth Rs 135 crore, 29 lakh has been seized in Jharkhand. On June 1, the day of voting in the seventh phase, illegal material and cash worth Rs 34.19 lakh was also seized.
