Bari, June 14: Prime Minister Modi met today on Friday with French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In his meeting with French President, he discussed ways to strengthen defence, nuclear, and space sectors, as well as strategic partnerships. The leaders also discussed major global and regional issues. Their meeting took on the sidelines of the G-7 Summit in the southern Italian city of Bari.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote on social media platform X, “Taking Strategic Partnership to new levels! PM @narendramodi met President @EmmanuelMacron of France on the sidelines of the 50th G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy.”
“The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the partnership including in areas of defence, nuclear, space, education, climate action, digital public infrastructure, critical technologies, connectivity and culture. They also exchanged views on key global and regional issues,” the MEA spokesperson added.

PM Modi has been invited by Italian Prime Minister Giordano Meloni to participate in the 50th G7 summit. He will speak at a session covering topics such as artificial intelligence (AI), energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean, alongside leaders from other invited nations and Pope Francis.
PM Modi discusses bilateral relations and topics of shared interests with Rishi Sunak
Prime Minister Modi met with his British counterpart Rishi Sunak during the G7 summit in a southern Italian city. The leaders discussed bilateral relations and shared interests. Their previous meeting was at the G20 summit in New Delhi last September, where they agreed to accelerate Free Trade Agreement (FTA) talks ahead of India’s general elections.
Trade talks are expected to resume after the newly elected British government takes office on July 4. The India-UK FTA talks, initiated in January 2022, aim to significantly enhance bilateral trade.

PM Modi had a conversation with Ukrainian President Zelensky
Prime Minister Modi had a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Italy. It is understood that Zelensky briefed Modi on various aspects of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Modi had also met Zelensky last year in May during the G7 summit in Hiroshima.
India has consistently maintained that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
