New Delhi, June 24: In a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Bhartruhari Mahtab as the Pro-tem Speaker. Mahtab took the oath of office in Hindi.
After this, President Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and other leaders congratulated him.
Who is Bhartrihari Mahtab?
Bhartrihari Mahtab is the son of Odisha’s first CM Harekrishna Mahtab. He was born on 8 September 1957 and is currently 66 years old. Bhartrihari Mahtab has been a 7-time MP from Cuttack, Odisha since 1998.
He joined the BJP from BJD before the Lok Sabha elections. Mahtab has been one of the founding members of BJD. Apart from this, he has been the presiding officer in the Lok Sabha.
He has also been awarded the Sansad Ratna Award four times. He has also received the Best MP award.
