New Delhi, July 2: In a subtle jab at Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi regarding the outcome of the Lok Sabha election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated during his Lok Sabha speech on Tuesday that while the Congress and its network are attempting to create the impression among the public that they have won, in actuality, “Bachhe ka mann behlane ka kaam chal raha hai” meaning “It is just an effort to appease a child.”
PM Modi said that this marks the first time in Congress’s history that they have failed to cross the 100-seat mark three times consecutively. It is the third-largest defeat in the party’s history.
“A little child goes out with a bicycle and if he falls and starts crying, his elder says that look, the ant got crushed. You’re riding the bicycle well. ‘Bachhe ka mann behlane ka kaam chal raha hai’,” PM Modi stated.

Escalating his criticism of Congress, the Prime Minister stated that since the 1984 elections, there have been 10 Lok Sabha elections in the country, yet Congress has not been able to reach the 250-seat mark. This time, they have ended up with only 99 seats.
“I recall a story of a boy who was boasting around with 99 marks, showing everyone how many marks he got. When people heard 99, they would praise him and boost his confidence. Then his teacher came and said, “He didn’t get 99 out of 100, but 99 out of 543.” Now, who will explain to that foolish boy that he has set a world record for failure?” the PM stated.

Scams after scams before 2014
In a pointed remark aimed at the opposition PM Modi stated that before 2014, daily scams were a norm, but his government has lifted the country out of that state of despair.
“Before 2014, there was a period of scams after scams, our country had sunk into a pit of despair. The greatest loss before 2014 was the loss of self-confidence among the citizens. People used to say that nothing can be done for this country. Before 2014, these were the words we heard. ‘Roz naye ghotale hote the. Ghotalebazo ke ghotale, isi ka ye kaalkhand tha’ (Every day, new scams were taking place. It was an era of scams by scamsters). This world of scams had plunged us into a pit of despair. Nepotism was so widespread that ordinary young people had lost hope. People had to make rounds of MPs’ offices just to get a gas connection,” he said.

Those who worshipped Article 370 degraded J&K’s condition
Speaking on the security of the nation PM Modi said, “Before 2014, terrorists could attack whenever they wanted, and the government would remain silent. Today, post-2014, India enters their homes and strikes. We conduct surgical strikes, and airstrikes, and demonstrate the capability to teach a lesson to the masterminds of terrorism. For its security, India can do anything today”.
Addressing Article 370, the Prime Minister said that those who worshipped Article 370 had actually degraded the condition of Jammu and Kashmir.
“People who upheld the constitution on their heads did not want to implement it in J-K. Today, after the wall of Article 370 has fallen, stone-pelting has stopped, democracy is strong, and people are coming forward in large numbers to vote, trusting the Indian constitution,” he stated.
