PINAKI  MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Nov 17:  IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre predicted a rise in minimum temperature in most parts of Jharkhand due to the cloud cover.

Several places woke up to cloud, fog and mist today.

Light north-easterly wind prevails at lower levels of the atmosphere.

The deep depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal moved north-northeastwards with a speed of 17 kph and lay centred over west-central Bay of Bengal near latitude 17.4°N and longitude 87.0°E, about 390 km east-southeast of Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), 320 km south-southeast of Paradip (Odisha), 460 km south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal) and 610 km south-southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh).

It is likely to continue to move north-northeastwards and intensify further into a cyclonic storm during the next 24 hours and cross the Bangladesh coast between Mongla and Khepupara with a wind speed of 55-65 kph gusting to 75 kph by the early hours of  November 18.

Dry weather prevailed over the state during the past 24 hours. The highest maximum temperature of 30.7°C was recorded at Godda while the lowest minimum temperature of 13.4°C was recorded at Garhwa.
