Suva, August 6: President Droupadi Murmu was awarded the Companion of the Order of Fiji, the highest civilian accolade in Fiji, on Tuesday.
She praised the enduring partnership between India and Fiji, reaffirming India’s readiness to work together with Fiji to build a stronger, more resilient, and prosperous nation.
“President Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere of Fiji conferred the Companion of the Order of Fiji upon President Droupadi Murmu. This is the highest civilian award of Fiji,” the President’s Office posted on X.

While in Fiji for a two-day visit, Murmu referred to the award as a testament to the strong bond of friendship between India and Fiji. This is the first time an Indian head of state has visited the island nation.
In 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honoured with this highest civilian award in recognition of his international leadership.
