Paris, August 8: At the Paris Olympics on Thursday, Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat earned a place in the semi-finals with a brilliant performance in the men’s 57kg quarter-finals.
Aman beat Albania’s Zelimkhan Abakanov with a commanding technical superiority score of 12-0 to advance to the semi-finals and secure a shot at a medal.
Later on Thursday, Aman will go up against Japan’s Rei Higuchi, with the match determining his opportunity to compete for India’s first gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
Earlier on Thursday, Aman secured a spot in the quarter-finals by defeating former European champion Vladimir Egorov with a technical superiority score of 10-0 in the first round.
