Ranchi, Sept 3: Jharkhand cadre IAS Manish Ranjan has been given the National Award for e-Governance (NAeG) during the 27th National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG). The award ceremony was held today at the Jio Convention Centre in Mumbai.
Award for water management and development
Manish Ranjan has been given this award for better implementation of the drinking water schemes in Jharkhand by launching the JHAR-JAL portal while working as the Secretary of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department. He is currently posted as Director, Sri Krishna Institute of Public Administration (SKIPA).

The National Awards for e-Governance by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) is recognized among the most competitive and prestigious digital governance recognition in the country.
JHAR-JAL Portal
The JHAR-JAL Portal of Jharkhand is an initiative in water management and sustainable development. It benefits rural households across all 29,595 villages in the state by providing real-time information on water and sanitation services. Additionally, 3,51,156 Jal Choupals have been conducted, and 14,595 water resource mappings have been completed.
Govt of India team assessed the ground reality
Before giving this award, a team of the Government of India visited many areas of Jharkhand to assess the status of Jal Nal Yojana in Jharkhand by conducting surprise inspections of several areas of Bokaro, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh and Palamu. After which the team submitted its report to the central government. Manish Ranjan was selected for this award only after knowing the reality of the scheme on the ground.
Objective of National e-governance award
The objective of the award is to recognise and promote excellence in the implementation of e-Governance initiatives and to encourage innovation in successful e-Governance solutions. The NAeG are conferred under different categories each year during the National Conference on E-Governance (NCeG). The Conference is organised every year by the DARPG in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the respective State Governments hosting the annual event.
