Tata Steel UISL initiate steps for rooftop solar plants at Jamshedpur schools

Jamshedpur, Sept 4: In a significant step towards fostering sustainability and environmental responsibility, Ritu Raj Sinha, managing director, Tata Steel UISL, engaged in an interaction with Jamshedpur school principals.

The meeting focused on the implementation of rooftop solar installations at schools and the collaborative effort required to achieve net-zero carbon emissions.

During the session, Sinha highlighted Tata Steel UISL’s commitment to integrating renewable energy solutions within educational institutions, emphasizing that schools play a crucial role in shaping the next generation’s mindset towards sustainability.

He emphasized the importance of transitioning to clean energy through rooftop solar panels, which not only reduce carbon footprints but also serve as an educational tool for students to understand the significance of renewable energy.

17 schools attend interactive session

In all 17 Schools including Loyola School, D.B.M.S English School, BH Area, Carmel Junior College, Sonari Carmel Bal Vihar School, Sonari, JUSCO School Kadma, JUSCO School South Park, Kashidih High School, Sacred Heart Convent School, D.A.V Public School, Bistupur, Kerala Public School, Kadma, D.B.M.S Kadma High School, Narbharam Hansraj English H.S. School, Beldih Baptist School, J.H Tarapore School, Dhatkidih St. Mary’s English High School, ADLS Sunshine School, Kadma, and Motilal Nehru Public School, participated in the session.

The interactive session provided a platform for school principals to discuss the technical and logistical aspects of implementing solar energy solutions, including potential challenges and the support required from Tata Steel UISL.

The managing director assured the principals that the company would offer assistance in the installation of the solar panels, as well as monitoring the energy savings and carbon offset.

He stressed that achieving net zero is not just a goal but a responsibility, urging the schools to take proactive steps in reducing their environmental impact.

The principals expressed enthusiasm for the initiative and shared their insights on how schools can contribute to the broader environmental goals.

Many highlighted the potential of involving students in sustainability projects, thus creating a culture of environmental stewardship within the school community.
