  1. In August 2024, Coal India’s production and dispatch decreased due to heavy rains, with a production shortfall of 11.9% and a dispatch drop of 11.8%. Coal-based power generation saw a 5.03% decline.
  2. Prime Minister Modi will soon launch and lay the foundation for Rs. 9665 crore worth of tribal development projects in Jharkhand under the PM-JanMan initiative. These include housing, roads, education, and healthcare initiatives.
  3. Union Minister of State, Coal and Mines Satishchandra Dubey will visit Ranchi on 7th Sept. for a review meeting with CCL officials. BJP and local groups will welcome him.
  4. The Jharkhand High Court expressed displeasure over non-compliance with orders to provide jobs to landowners, who gave land for the Swarnrekha project (Chandil Dam) 38 years ago. The court summoned secretary-level officers and directors for clarification.
  5. A protest by displaced villagers against a coal company turned violent in Keradari, Hazaribagh, resulting in clashes with police. Seven were injured, including four police officers. Villagers were protesting and demanding fair compensation, rehabilitation, and jobs.
  6. The central Government has sought details of eight HEC officials linked to land encroachment and regulatory failures in the residential complex.
  7. After initiative taken by Union Minister Sanjay Seth, Lodhma-Piska and Ilu-Silli bypass Rail Line Projects in Ranchi, costing Rs. 3.40 Crore have been approved.
  8. Despite regulations allowing mining only from sunrise to sunset, the NSIPL contractor at the Monoharpur Iron ore Mines of SAIL (Chiriya Mines) continues operations, including crushing and screening, throughout the night.
  9. A fire broke out in an oil drum at the Hot Strip Mill’s ROT section in Bokaro Steel Plant. Four workers were injured. Two are hospitalized.
  10. Jharkhand Govt. will send a panel of IPS officers with over 30 years of service to the UPSC by this month for the permanent DGP position. Officers with a clean record and nearing retirement are being considered.
  11. Four Superintendent of Police (SP) in Jharkhand have been assigned additional duties. Sahibganj SP Amit Kumar to JAP-9, Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav to IRB 4, Godda SP Animesh Naithani to IRB 8, and Giridih SP to IRB 9.
  12. Jharkhand State Beverage Corporation issued a notice to Vision Company for embezzlement of Rs. 4.79 crore in Hazaribagh, Chatra, and Koderma districts. Hazaribagh alone reported Rs. 2.75 crore in discrepancies.
