Bengaluru, Sept 24: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday rejected Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s plea opposing Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s consent for an investigation into the alleged irregularities in the allotment of sites by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to his wife.

The single judge bench of Justice Nagaprasanna while delivering the judgment remarked that the Governor’s decision to grant prosecution sanction was made with due consideration and did not reflect any failure in applying his mind.

Siddaramaiah, in his petition, challenged the legality of the Governor’s sanction allowing a probe against him under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act and prosecution under Section 218 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.

On August 17, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot approved the sanction following applications submitted by social activists Pradeep Kumar SP and TJ Abraham, both of Bengaluru, and Snehamayi Krishna of Mysuru.
