78 policemen guard ex-CM Champai Soren, son, advisor: Jharkhand police

Ranchi, Sept 25: The Jharkhand police today said that 63 police officers and personnel have been deputed to guard former Chief Minister Champai Soren, who enjoys Z plus security cover.

“Besides, his son Babulal Soren has two bodyguards and his advisor Dharmendra Goswami alias Chanchal Goswami enjoys the security cover of three bodyguards and 01/04 house guards. “In total, 63+02+08 = 73 security personnel and 05 drivers are also on deputation, with Soren,” a release issued by the Jharkhand police said.

These police officers/personnel are equipped with state-of-the-art weapons such as AK-47, INSAS rifle, pistol, LMG, metal detector, wireless set and other security equipment.

Jharkhand police on misleading report

Clarifying its stand on some misleading news spread by a section of media regarding the reduction in the security of Champai Soren, the police said, “While being the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Champai Soren was eligible for “Z Plus” (including ASL) category. At present, Soren is covered under the “Z Plus” (without ASL) category. As per Z Plus security without ASL, Soren has more security force than expected,” the police headquarters said.

5 vehicles for Champai motorcade

“After resigning from the post of Chief Minister, Champai Soren had a total of – 07 vehicles: ➤ Fortuner- 03, Scorpio -01, B.P. Safari 01 and Gypsy-02.

Out of these, 03 Fortuners and 01 Scorpio are part of the Chief Minister’s security carcade, which was available with Champai Soren when he was the Chief Minister. Even after resigning from the post of Chief Minister, the above-mentioned 04 vehicles, which are part of the Chief Minister’s carcade and should not be deputed anywhere else from the carcade under any circumstances, were also deputed with Soren. “These four vehicles have been called back for the Chief Minister’s carcade and currently Champai Soren has a deputation of five vehicles, including B.P. Safari 01, Gypsy 02, Jammer Scorpio – 01 and (4) Innova – 01.
