Kolkata, Oct 1: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday conducted simultaneous raids at 12 sites across West Bengal, including one in Kolkata, on individuals allegedly associated with Maoists, according to an official source.

The official stated that raids were being conducted in Netaji Nagar, Panihati, Barrackpore, Sodepur, Asansol, and various other locations in West Bengal, in connection with the suspected links of two women and their associates to Maoists.

According to the source, the women are accused of siphoning off funds that were sent to them to expand Maoist networks in eastern India. The ongoing raids aim to uncover the specific roles these individuals played within the Maoist organisation.

The official added that several documents were confiscated during the ongoing raids.
