New Delhi, Oct 7: In the land-for-jobs scam case, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family has received a major relief. The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has granted bail to Lalu Yadav, along with his sons Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav. They were granted bail on a bond of ₹1 lakh each.
The next hearing in this case is scheduled for October 25. Earlier, Lalu, Tej Pratap, and Tejashwi Yadav had appeared before the Rouse Avenue Court, accompanied by party MP Misa Bharti. The accused appeared in court in compliance with the summons that had been issued earlier.
Lalu acquired land in exchange for jobs during his tenure as Railway Minister
The CBI alleges that during Lalu Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009, a land-for-jobs scam took place. During this period, Lalu Yadav allegedly secretly appointed 12 individuals from Patna to Group D positions in exchange for land.
The CBI claims that plots were registered in the names of Lalu Yadav’s wife, Rabri Devi, and his daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav, and that these lands were purchased at nominal prices paid in cash.

Furthermore, the positions in the Railways were filled without any advertisement or notification to the Central Railway. The jobs were given within three days of receiving the applications.
ED claims evidence of ₹600 crore money laundering
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) based on the CBI’s FIR.
In the land-for-jobs scam, the ED claims to have uncovered evidence of ₹600 crore in money laundering so far. According to the ED, out of the assets generated from the crime, ₹350 crore is in immovable property, while ₹250 crore came to Lalu Yadav’s family through benami (anonymous) transactions.
A senior ED official stated that four plots of land, acquired for just ₹7.5 lakh in exchange for Group D jobs, were sold to former RJD MLA Syed Abu Dojana for ₹3.5 crore. A significant portion of this was later transferred by Rabri Devi to Tejashwi Yadav, for which the ED claims to have evidence.
