Ranchi, Oct 18: Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar today said that political parties and candidates can lure voters not only with cash but also with the temptation of other things during the Assembly elections.
“So, all enforcement agencies should coordinate and take prompt action on all these activities. Everyone will have to make a joint effort to provide equal opportunity to all candidates and to conduct clean, fair and peaceful voting in the state,” he said while holding a meeting with senior officials of all enforcement agencies of the state.
RBI to keep a tab on suspicious transactions
Kumar said that RBI officials should keep an eye on all suspicious transactions and bulk transactions. He asked them to seize the bank account by sharing the information of any suspicious transaction with the headquarters.
The CEO directed the officials of Traffic, Forest Department, Airport Authority, Prohibition Department, ED, Customs Department, Income Tax Department etc. to work diligently during the elections and completely stop illegal activities.

Kumar said that in rural areas, many candidates distribute many types of items to lure voters. “There is a possibility of movement of illegal liquor, drugs etc. in the border areas. To keep an eye on the movement of all these illegal materials, CCTV surveillance is to be done at the checkposts built in all the border states and districts, which is being monitored through webcasting from the district headquarters and state level,” he said.
On this occasion, State Police Nodal Officer A.V. Homkar, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Neha Arora and senior officials of all enforcement agencies were present.

Meanwhile, AV Homkar held a meeting for crime control and law and order maintenance in the state and discussed in detail the status of execution of pending warrants/attachments, preventive action, identification of history sheeters, active criminals and other miscreants and the action being taken against them, activation of inter-state check posts, status of the continuous campaign being run against illegal drugs, illegal weapons, illegal liquor and other banned items, adequate/alternative arrangements for accommodation and transportation of CAPF/SAP and other central forces to be deputed during the upcoming Assembly elections.
He also reviewed the current status of the campaign being continuously run against the extremists, status of the exchange of Naxal intelligence and criminal intelligence, status of compliance of security related SOP in Naxal-affected areas, Area sanitization plan, status of the Social media monitoring cell, status of election-related training and current status of pending cases related to previous elections.

Apart from this, discussions were also held regarding monitoring social media, keeping a special watch on rumours being spread in all districts, providing adequate security to election observers/ important persons/ candidates and strictly following the Model Code of Conduct.
