Jamshedpur, Oct 30: The All India Sikh Students Federation, represented by its East India President Satnam Singh Gambhir, has expressed outrage over remarks allegedly made by Union Minister Sanjay Seth during an election rally in Ranchi.
The Federation claims that Seth’s comments hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community by equating Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the revered tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
In a statement released to the press, Gambhir condemned Seth’s remarks, stating, “Comparing Prime Minister Modi to Guru Gobind Singh Ji is reprehensible. Sikh Gurus are above comparison, and to do so is a violation of Sikh religious sanctity.”
According to Gambhir, a video clip of the rally shows Seth making the controversial remarks, which, he believes, could be interpreted as insensitive and offensive to the community.

Legal action if Seth doesn’t apologise
The Federation has demanded a public apology from Seth. Gambhir stated that if no apology is forthcoming, the Federation would pursue legal action under Section 295, which addresses acts intended to insult the religion or religious beliefs of any class.
“BJP leaders have, at times, made statements targeting various communities, and now, they have turned their focus on Sikhs,” he remarked, warning that such rhetoric could foster division and harm communal harmony.
Gambhir emphasized the need for responsible communication by public figures, urging BJP leaders to consider the impact of their words on India’s diverse communities. A formal response from Union Minister Sanjay Seth is awaited as Sikh community leaders rally around the issue, demanding respect for their religious traditions and leaders.
