Ranchi, Dec 24: The Jharkhand Government has announced a 3% increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners. With this hike, they will now receive 53% of their basic pay as DA.

The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren earlier today.

In addition to the DA hike, the cabinet approved several other proposals:

  1. Performance Audit Reports for Legislative Assembly:
    • The cabinet approved the Performance Audit Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) on the management of public health infrastructure and health services in Jharkhand. This report will be presented in the next session of the Assembly.
    • Similarly, the CAG report on the welfare of building and other construction workers was also approved for tabling in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly during the upcoming session.
  2. Funding for Vinoba Bhave University:
    • A budget of Rs 99.56 crore was sanctioned for Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh.
  3. Promotion of Retired Employees in Compliance with Court Order:
    • The cabinet approved a proposal to promote retired employees of the Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (FMT) department at RIMS. This decision follows the Jharkhand High Court’s ruling in the case of Dr. Tulsi Mahto vs. The State of Jharkhand and Others.

These decisions reflect the government’s commitment to addressing state financial, educational, and administrative priorities.
