Hemant govt should pay widow pension immediately: Babulal Marandi

Ranchi, Jan 5: BJP State President and former Chief Minister, Babulal Marandi, targeted the state government today, raising concerns about the dire condition of widowed women in the state.

In a statement shared on social media, Marandi said that the situation of widowed mothers and sisters has become extremely alarming and worrisome due to the severe crisis and neglect they are facing under the current government.

He pointed out that widow pensions, which serve as a lifeline for these women, have been halted for the past 5-6 months.

According to Marandi, several women claim that the government has diverted the funds meant for the widow pension scheme to the “Maiyaan Samman Yojana.” As a result, their pensions have been discontinued.

He emphasized that widow pensions are more than just monetary aid; they are a source of dignity and self-reliance for these women. “The suspension of the pension has exacerbated their daily struggles, leaving many unable to afford necessities such as food, medicine, and other essential items.

Marandi criticized the Hemant government for ignoring their plight and treating their suffering with indifference.

He further stated that prioritizing one scheme by sacrificing another is unjustifiable. “The government must recognize the crucial role widow pensions play in the lives of these women,” he said.

He urged the Chief Minister to take immediate action to reinstate the widow pension scheme and stop disregarding the hardships faced by these vulnerable mothers and sisters.
