THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

New Delhi, Jan 7: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today launched the Bharatpol portal, developed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. Additionally, the Home Minister presented Police Medals to CBI officers and staff.

“Bharatpol will take our country’s international investigations to a new era. The CBI was the only agency identified to work with Interpol, but with the launch of Bharatpol, every Indian agency and all state police forces will easily be able to connect with Interpol,” the Union Home Minister stated on the launch.

Bharatpol to enhance real-time international cooperation

The Bharatpol portal will enable Indian law enforcement agencies to share information in real time, thereby providing faster access to international police cooperation.

CBI in India facilitates international cooperation in criminal matters in collaboration with various agencies across the country including law enforcement agencies for Interpol. Currently, communication between the CBI, Interpol, and other units primarily relies on letters, emails, and fax.

Reportedly, the rising impact of international crimes, including cybercrime, organized crime, financial offenses, online radicalization, drug trafficking, and human trafficking, necessitates international assistance to expedite criminal investigations. According to sources, the BharatPoll portal has been developed by the CBI to address this challenge effectively.

Police Medals to 35 CBI officers/staff

Amit Shah presented Police Medals to 35 CBI officers and staff, who were honored with the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation.
