On November 13 last year, he filed a petition seeking certification before the US Supreme Court. Interestingly, the Supreme Court rejected his petition on January 21, just one day after Donald Trump was sworn in as President.

Reports indicate that Rana is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles.
