Delhi Assembly polls: 57.70% voter turnout recorded by 5 pm

New Delhi, Feb 5: As per the Election Commission of India (ECI), Delhi recorded a voter turnout of 57.70% till 5 PM on Wednesday in the single-phase Assembly elections.

Among all districts, North-East Delhi registered the highest participation, with 63.83% of voters casting their ballots. On the other hand, the lowest turnout was observed in the South East district at 53.77%, followed closely by the New Delhi district, which recorded 54.37%.

Other districts saw varying levels of voter participation. The South West district reported a turnout of 58.86%, East Delhi recorded 58.98%, North 57.24%, and North West 58.05%.

Meanwhile, Shahdara witnessed a 61.35% turnout, while South, Central, and West districts registered 55.72%, 55.24%, and 57.42%, respectively.

By 11 AM the voter turnout was 19.95%, till 1 PM the turnout was 33.31 per cent whereas till 3 PM it was 46.55 per cent.

Polling for all 70 assembly seats in Delhi is underway in a single phase from 7 AM and continued until 6 PM. By 9 AM, a voter turnout of 8.10% had been recorded.

According to Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), a total of 1.56 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in the election. This includes 83.76 lakh male voters, 72.36 lakh female voters, and 1,267 transgender voters. A total of 13,766 polling stations have been set up for the voting process.

699 candidates are in the fray and the results will be declared on February 8.
