Ranchi, Feb 11: BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo today accused the Jharkhand government of being indifferent to implementing central schemes effectively.
State Government Neglecting Central Schemes
Pratul alleged that while the Chief Minister and the state finance minister formally submit demand letters to central ministers, the actual condition of ongoing central schemes in the state remains poor.
Failure to Submit Utility Certificates Delays Funds
He pointed out that the state government failed to submit the utility certificate for the central government’s share in MNREGA, leading to prolonged delays in the Centre’s contribution. Similarly, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, where both the Centre and state share funding responsibilities, the state government again failed to provide the utility certificate on time. As a result, Jharkhand ranks among the lowest in implementing the housing scheme, he added.

Private Hospitals Stop Ayushman Card Admissions
Pratul further stated that despite receiving central funding for the Ayushman Yojana, the state government did not make timely payments to many private hospitals. As a result, hundreds of hospitals stopped admitting patients with Ayushman cards.
Poor Execution of Tap Water Scheme
He also criticized the state government for mishandling the “Har Ghar Jal” initiative. At one point, Jharkhand ranked just above the bottom in scheme implementation. Even today, 28 lakh households in the state still lack tap water connections. Additionally, corruption allegations surfaced regarding the scheme, leading to raids on several individuals, including associates of the then-minister, he added.
Centre Ready to Help, But State Government Uncooperative
Pratul emphasized that the central government is willing to provide full support to the state, but the state government has failed to account for the Centre’s funds, causing unnecessary delays. He urged the Chief Minister to ensure proper utilization of central funds. He also highlighted that leaders such as the Prime Minister, Amit Shah, and Nitin Gadkari have repeatedly assured states that there will be no shortage of funds—provided rules and regulations are followed.
