Ranchi, March 26: Chief Minister Hemant Soren today urged Anganwadi workers to use smartphones responsibly and avoid falling for misleading messages while downloading apps. Speaking at a state-level event organized by the Women, Child Development, and Social Security Department at the Jharkhand Ministry, he emphasized the importance of cybersecurity and the role of technology in improving service delivery. The event marked the distribution of smartphones to Anganwadi workers, supervisors, and help desk personnel to enhance efficiency in women and child welfare programs.

Smartphones to Improve Work Efficiency

Soren highlighted that smartphones have become essential in today’s world, serving as constant companions and making daily tasks easier. Acknowledging their growing significance, the government has provided smartphones to Anganwadi workers, supervisors, and health desk personnel to help them perform their duties more efficiently.

With these devices, workers can easily record and manage daily reports and activity details from Anganwadi centers. This initiative will also enable real-time monitoring of their work, ensuring greater accuracy and accountability in service delivery.

A Caution Against Cyber Threats

While emphasizing the benefits of smartphones, Soren also warned about their potential risks. He advised Anganwadi workers to use these devices strictly for official purposes and only through government-approved applications. He urged them to be cautious while downloading apps and to avoid falling prey to fraudulent and tempting messages. Even a small mistake, he said, could lead to financial loss and other serious consequences.

“Smartphones have both advantages and risks. How we use them determines their impact. If used responsibly, they make life easier, but negligence can lead to problems,” he cautioned.

Double-Edged Nature of Smartphones

Soren pointed out that smartphones have brought the world closer, providing instant access to information and making everyday life more convenient. They have become so indispensable that people may forget their wallets but never their phones.

However, he stressed that the increasing misuse of smartphones, particularly in cybercrimes, is a growing concern. He urged Anganwadi workers to stay alert and ensure their devices are used only for constructive and authorized purposes. Responsible usage, he said, is key to maximizing benefits while minimizing risks.

Government’s Commitment to Digitalization

The smartphone distribution initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to promote digitalization in welfare programs. By integrating technology into Anganwadi centers, the administration aims to streamline operations and improve the quality of services for women and children.

With digital record-keeping and real-time monitoring, the government hopes to enhance transparency and effectiveness in its programs. The initiative also aligns with the state’s vision of using technology to strengthen governance and service delivery.

Event Attendees

The event was attended by Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Avinash Kumar, Secretary of Women, Child Development, and Social Security Department Manoj Kumar, Director of Social Security Kiran Kumar Pasi, along with other officials, Anganwadi workers, and supervisors.

This initiative marks another step in the government’s mission to empower frontline workers with digital tools, ensuring better service delivery while emphasizing safe and responsible use of technology.
