CM Hemant Soren pushes welfare drive across Jharkhand

Ranchi, April 9: In a significant move to fast-track welfare schemes across Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed officials to prioritise timely delivery of benefits in education, employment, healthcare, and rural development. Chairing a high-level review meeting with Deputy Commissioners and department heads, the CM called for transparent and prompt implementation of development programmes aimed at uplifting the state’s most vulnerable communities.

Scholarships Must Reach Students on Time

To ensure uninterrupted education for underprivileged students, the Chief Minister has ordered that all pending pre-matric scholarship payments for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Minorities, and Backward Classes be cleared by 8 May 2025. He stressed the importance of district-level verification within a fixed timeframe, reaffirming that no student should miss out on financial aid due to administrative delays.

Boost to Self-Employment: Branding Mukhyamantri Rojgar Srijan Yojana

Soren emphasised the importance of promoting the Mukhyamantri Rojgar Srijan Yojana, which offers financial support to unemployed youth starting their own ventures. He instructed that the scheme’s logo be visibly displayed on all funded assets to raise public awareness. A third-party evaluation has also been recommended to assess outcomes and ensure impact.

Helipads at Hospitals for Emergency Care

Recognising the need for better emergency medical infrastructure, the CM announced plans to build helipads at all government medical colleges and the AIIMS hospital in Deoghar. This initiative aims to facilitate faster patient transfers, particularly from remote areas.

Accelerating Rural Development: Housing and Employment

Under MNREGA, the target for 2025–26 has been set at 12 crore man-days, with district officials asked to monitor 20 schemes monthly via the Area Officer App to ensure transparency. Last year, the state exceeded its target by creating over 10 crore man-days.

Housing schemes also received a push. The CM directed that installment payments under Abua Awas Yojana and PMAY-Gramin be expedited, and urged eligible beneficiaries to geo-tag their homes through a mobile app. A survey of nearly 20 lakh beneficiaries has been completed, with a deadline of 30 April 2025 to wrap up the remainder.

Addressing Summer Woes: Water and Forest Fires

Soren issued clear instructions to prepare district-level plans to tackle potential drinking water shortages during summer. He also called for urgent measures to prevent forest fires, noting the ecological and safety risks they pose.

“Speed, transparency, and commitment are key”

The Chief Minister reminded officials that timely execution and transparency are critical to building public trust. “Your working style directly influences the pace of development,” he said, urging Deputy Commissioners to ensure that no eligible citizen is left behind.
