Ranchi, April 10: In a strong show of support for Jharkhand’s rising sports stars, Chief Minister Hemant Soren today declared that “Jharkhand’s strength lies in sports,” reaffirming the government’s commitment to nurturing local talent—especially young girls—from grassroots to global platforms.
The Chief Minister made these remarks during an inspiring interaction with young football trainees from Ormanjhi, supported by the Yuva India Trust. The organisation, aided by the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation, is driving initiatives that combine education, life skills, and professional football training for underprivileged girls.

“These girls are full of talent and dreams. Our government is ready to support them at every step, so they can achieve their goals and make the state proud,” said CM Soren, speaking to the young athletes at his official residence in Ranchi.
A State Fuelled by Passion for Sports
The Chief Minister praised the deep-rooted sporting culture in Jharkhand. “In places like Simdega and Khunti, children play with bamboo sticks because their passion for hockey runs that deep. That’s the kind of spirit we must nurture,” he said.
Building Playgrounds, Building Futures
Over the past few years, Jharkhand has rolled out a series of initiatives to boost sports at the grassroots level—constructing playgrounds in every panchayat, offering structured training, and providing jobs and recognition to players.
“We’re not just building stadiums; we’re building futures,” the CM remarked. He also shared that large-scale football tournaments are being planned to give aspiring footballers broader exposure.
From Small Villages to International Arenas
The girls shared their stories, revealing how the trust’s support has opened doors to competitions both in India and overseas. “For us, football is not just a game—it’s a dream we’re living every day,” said one of the young players.
Looking Ahead: Expansion and New Campuses
Franz Gasler, Director of Yuva India Trust, informed the CM that 600 girls are currently undergoing football training in Ormanjhi. The trust also provides schooling from Class 2 to 12 and conducts life skills workshops. Plans for a new campus in Khunti are also underway.
“Keep Dreaming, Keep Moving Forward”
Encouraging the girls to stay focused, CM Soren said, “Life will always bring challenges. Some will help you; some will try to stop you. But if your dream is strong and your spirit high, nothing can stop you.”
