THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

New Delhi, May 7: Following heightened security alerts after India’s military action under ‘Operation Sindoor’, major airlines IndiGo and Air India have suspended flight operations to several cities in northern, northwestern, and central India. The disruptions come in response to airport closures ordered by aviation authorities as a precautionary measure.

Flight Suspensions and Affected Cities

Air India announced on Wednesday that it has suspended operations to nine cities including Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot for the same period. Two international flights destined for Amritsar were diverted to Delhi in light of the airport closure.

IndiGo has also followed suit, suspending all flights to and from 11 cities until 5:29 AM on May 10. The affected airports include Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Gwalior, Kishangarh, and Rajkot.

The airlines have advised passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport and warned that further schedule changes in other sectors may be introduced depending on how the situation develops.

Airlines Offer Support Measures for Affected Passengers

Both carriers have issued advisories for passengers. IndiGo expressed appreciation for travelers’ cooperation during the disruption, while Air India has offered waivers on rescheduling fees and the option for full refunds to customers whose flights have been canceled.

Air India also apologized for the inconvenience and urged passengers to verify their flight status and update contact details through the website airindiaexpress.com/manage-booking.

The cancellations come in the wake of ‘Operation Sindoor’—India’s targeted military strike on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
