New Delhi, Dec 9: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at 44 places in Karnataka and Maharashtra on Saturday, leading to the arrest of 15 persons from Pune, Maharashtra in connection with the ISIS terror conspiracy case.
According to sources, the anti-terror agency officers worked closely with the Maharashtra and Karnataka police forces to raid these premises.
The agency officers searched one location in Karnataka, two in Pune, 31 in Thane Rural, nine in Thane City, and one in Bhayander out of the 44 places they have been raiding since this morning, they added.
Extensive terror plot with foreign handlers
This case concerns a criminal plot organized by the accused and their collaborators who created a terrorist gang and vowed allegiance to the violent extremist ideology of banned terrorist groups, such as Al-Qaeda and ISIS.
The extremist groups enlisted individuals who shared their ideologies, attracting like-minded young people. Additionally, they organized religious teachings with the goal of promoting violent jihad to establish Islamic governance in India.
According to NIA sources, they have discovered a more extensive plot with global ties and the participation of foreign-based ISIS handlers in the ongoing investigation.
