Quarry blast claims 3 lives in Andhra’s Srikakulam

Srikakulam, May 17: In a tragic and mysterious incident in Meliyaputti mandal in Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh, three workers were killed in a suspected quarry explosion near Dinabandhupuram village late on Friday.

Authorities believe the men were fatally injured during a rock blasting incident at the site.

The victims have been identified as Pungavenu Arugam (45) from Tamil Nadu, and Tirlangi Ramarao (40) and Badabandu Appanna (35), both residents of Polavaram village in Tekkali mandal.

Meliyaputti Sub-Inspector Ramesh confirmed that preliminary findings point to a blast at the quarry as the cause of death.

He added that an in-depth investigation is ongoing and further details will be disclosed once the inquiry is complete.
