THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Dubai, July 2: India’s Rishabh Pant has made further strides in the ICC Test Rankings, climbing to sixth position with a career-best rating of 801.

The wicketkeeper-batter’s remarkable performance, including twin centuries in the opening Test against England, makes him only the second wicketkeeper in Test history to achieve the feat in the same match. He now stands just 88 points behind the top-ranked batter, England’s Joe Root.

Pant’s latest rise marks a return to familiar territory—he had previously reached as high as fifth in 2022.

Meanwhile, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal continues to be the highest-ranked Indian batter, holding steady at fourth. Captain Shubman Gill, however, slipped one rank to 21st in the latest update.

Among global players, Joe Root maintained his lead at the top following consistent knocks of 28 and an unbeaten 53 in the Headingley Test. His England teammate Harry Brook remains second, trailing Root by only 15 points.

Another Englishman, Ben Duckett, also impressed—his 149-run match-winning innings at Leeds propelled him to a career-best eighth place.

In the bowling rankings, India’s Jasprit Bumrah remains firmly at the top with 907 rating points, bolstered by his five-wicket haul against England.

India’s Ravindra Jadeja continues to dominate the all-rounders’ list, retaining his No.1 spot despite a relatively quiet performance in the recent match.
