New Delhi, July 14: Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Monday heard arguments on whether to take cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the National Herald case.
Special Judge Vishal Gogne reserved his order after the hearing and said the verdict would be pronounced on July 29.
The chargesheet, submitted by the ED, names senior Congress leaders and individuals close to the Gandhi family, including Suman Dubey, Sam Pitroda, Young Indian, Dotex Merchandise, and Sunil Bhandari, as accused in the case.

According to the ED, Associated Journals Limited (AJL)—the publisher of the National Herald newspaper—held assets valued at over ₹2,000 crore. The agency alleges that these assets were fraudulently acquired and used for money laundering through a company called Young Indian, in which members of the Gandhi family reportedly hold a majority stake.
The ED further claims that shares of AJL were illegally transferred to Young Indian as part of a criminal conspiracy. The value of these shares, the immovable properties owned by AJL, and the rental income derived from them have been treated as “proceeds of crime” under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The case, which has political ramifications, has been under investigation for several years and is being closely watched due to the involvement of prominent political figures.
