Dhanbad, July 17: The national body of the Indian Medical Association’s Junior Doctors Network (IMA-JDN) has constituted the Jharkhand State Committee for the 2024–26 term. The announcement was made by IMA JDN National Convener Dr Indranil Deshmukh.
In the newly formed committee, Dr Sushil Kumar has been reappointed as the State Chairman, while Dr Raghvendra Kumar of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH), Jamshedpur, continues as the State Secretary.
Dr Vikash Kumar from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, has been nominated as the new State Convener, marking a shift from his earlier position as State President.

New Appointments and Female Representation
Dr M Junaid Alam from Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH), Dhanbad, has been appointed as the National Council Member (female wing) for Jharkhand.
He becomes the first doctor from SNMMCH to be included in the state JDN committee. He replaces Dr Joga Govardhan Ashish of AIIMS Deoghar, who has now been inducted into the new executive body of the Medical Students Network (MSN).
Additionally, Dr Megha Tirkey of RIMS Ranchi has also been appointed as National Council Member (female wing), marking her first entry into the state JDN structure. Officials confirmed that the state committee will be further expanded with the consent of the State Chairman and Secretary.
Reshuffle in Committee, Exits of Key Leaders
While Dr Sushil Kumar and Dr Raghvendra Kumar have retained their posts, Dr Vikash Kumar’s elevation to State Convener has left the president’s post currently vacant. The national body has not announced a replacement for the position in this phase.
Former general secretaries Dr Aman Kumar Singh and Dr Thakur Siddhant Arjun have not been included in the new committee.
IMA sources explained that Dr Aman Singh has been appointed as Zonal Coordinator in the national body, while Dr Thakur Siddhant Arjun has taken charge as Convener of the state’s Medical Students Network, prompting their exclusion from the current JDN committee.

The formation of the new state JDN committee has been welcomed by various medical associations. Office bearers and members of the IMA, Junior Doctors Association (JDA), Medical Students Network (MSN), and JDN have congratulated the newly appointed members and expressed confidence in their leadership for addressing the concerns of junior doctors across the state.
