Jamshedpur, Sept 13: A fresh low-pressure area has developed over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off the north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts, under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation.

The system, extending up to 5.8 Km above mean sea level with a southward tilt is expected to move west-northwestwards across south Odisha, adjoining north Andhra Pradesh, and south Chhattisgarh over the next two days.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level now runs through Amritsar, Muzaffarnagar, Hardoi, Daltonganj, and the centre of the low-pressure area.

In addition, an upper air cyclonic circulation is persisting over northeast Jharkhand and adjoining areas at around 0.9 Km above mean sea level.

Forecast

September 13: Thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) likely at isolated places over Jharkhand.

September 14: Heavy rainfall at isolated places in north-eastern and adjoining central parts of the state.

September 15: Heavy rainfall over north-eastern and north-central parts; thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds likely at isolated places.

September 16: Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds (30–40 Kmph) likely at isolated places.

Weather Realizations

Monsoon activity remained normal over the state with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms at many places.

Heavy rainfall was recorded at some locations, with Godda receiving the highest at 86.2 mm.
