Ranchi, Dec. 17: Governor CP Radhakrishnan, while interacting with the youth from Jammu and Kashmir under the Kashmir Youth Exchange Programme 2023 “Watan Ko Jaane” organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra at Raj Bhavan today, said that our country is a country of unity in diversity on the global stage.

“Despite the diversity in language and culture among people living in different regions, we are all one and will remain one,” he said and added that such programmes promote knowledge and understanding of each other and strengthen the feeling of mutual unity.

The governor said that we should know and understand our language and culture and respect the language and culture of others.

Notably, 122 youth had come to the Raj Bhawan from different areas of Jammu and Kashmir, such as Pulwama, Anantnag, Bargaon, Kupwara, Baramulla, and Srinagar. Wishing them a better future, the Governor said that they should empower the nation by building the future with their talent and skills.

Vajpayee’s poem on India

Recalling the poem of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said, ‘India is not a piece of land, it is a living national man… If we live for it, we will die for it.’

The governor said that Jammu and Kashmir is known for its rich culture and beautiful landscapes.

Heaven on Earth

“Known as ‘Heaven on Earth’, situated in the lap of the Himalayas, this place mesmerises the whole world with its natural beauty. It is considered one of the best locations in the world for film shooting,” he pointed out.

PM’s initiatives for J&K

“Jammu and Kashmir, full of natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, has immense tourism potential. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has continuously taken various initiatives to promote development in Jammu and Kashmir. An important decision was taken by the prime minister to remove Article 370 to ensure equal rights and duties for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”

Article 370

Radhakrishnan said that the petition related to Article 370 was recently upheld as constitutional by the bench of the Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice of India.

“By ensuring equal rights and duties for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the benefits of progress will be ensured to them. Certainly, the weak and marginalised people will benefit from various government schemes.”

The governor said that today, our country is leading in youth power. The role of youth is essential in the progress of the country. He added that the youth must contribute to the nation’s development in this direction.
