Dhanbad, Oct 24: Sumit Kumar, a second-year B.Tech student in Engineering Physics at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, has achieved a remarkable feat by securing second place at the 2025 International Quant Championship (IQC) held in Singapore.

Organized annually by WorldQuant, the prestigious competition drew nearly 80,000 participants from across the globe. Sumit showcased outstanding analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills to clinch the first runners-up position, bringing pride to his institution and the country.

According to an IIT (ISM) official, Sumit was guided by Prof. Shashank Bansal from the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering.

“The International Quant Championship is among the most respected competitions in quantitative finance, data analytics, and computational modelling. It offers a global platform for students and professionals to demonstrate their expertise in data-driven decision-making,” the official stated.
The IIT (ISM) fraternity extended heartfelt congratulations to Sumit Kumar for his exceptional performance and to Prof. Bansal for his dedicated mentorship.
